There are several routes into the teaching profession, these include School Direct, Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), undergraduate degree courses, school-centred initial teacher training (SCITT) and Teach First.
It is important that trainees choose the right path for them. Elmridge Primary Teaching School Alliance offers the non-salaried School Direct route into teaching.
Elmridge’s School Direct course is designed in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and provides:
- School-based training with a highly supportive network of experience teachers
- Training placements in two contrastingly different schools
- Successful completion of the course results in qualified teacher status (QTS) and there is also the award of a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) and Master’s-level credits.
Elmridge’s alliance has a successful history of recruiting high quality trainee teachers with 100% successful completion rate and all trainees gaining successful employment in readiness for the start of the new school year.
