STEPPING INTO HEADSHIP (SIH)

Are you ready to take your leadership to the next level?

In partnership with Gatley Teaching School and Ladywood Teaching School 'Stepping Into Headship' is entering it 4th year of delivery.

The Stepping into Headship (SIH) Programme is designed for aspirant Headteachers who are ready to step into a headship role within 18 months of completing the programme. Both NPQH graduates and non-graduates who are able to demonstrate their desire and confidence to be appointed to headship are invited to apply.

The programme offers individuals a range of valuable information and experience including: 

  • Identification of personal needs, and action planning linked to the Headteacher Standards
  • Face-to-face workshops on important head-ship challenges and approaches
  • Strategies for highly effective school leader-ship and management
  • Use of a key school improvement theme to develop research approaches, which inform practice

The final session always includes a guest speak to provide participants with inspiration and offer a thought-provoking outlook.  In 2015-2016, Lemn Sissay MBE was no exception.

Entering its 4th year, the programme will run over 5 sessions between January and July 2017.  This year, in line with TSC allocated funding for this programme, priority will be given to applications received from aspirant Head teachers currently employed in the Oldham, Rochdale, Salford and Tameside local authorities. Applications are welcomed, however, from across the Greater Manchester area.
